Application to join the 2023 cohort of Knight Hennessy Scholarship is currently open. The Knight Hennessy Scholarship is an international scholarship program established to assist scholars to study any eligible course offered at Stanford University. The program prepares students for leadership roles with a view to finding lasting solutions to complex challenges in the global society.
A new cohort of scholars joins each year, adding to a diverse community of scholars from across disciplines, nationalities, perspectives, and backgrounds. Scholars, through the Knight Hennessy Scholarship, broaden their knowledge, develop their skills, and strengthen their character as a result of community experiences, workshops, meetings with leaders, domestic and global study trips, and personal development opportunities they are be exposed to.
The philosophy behind the Knight Hennessy scholarship is the search for the ways to bring into limelight visionary thinkers who are curious, open-minded, analytical, eager for cross-cultural perspective, and genuinely excited to boldly and creatively address world’s important challenges. Because of the competitive nature of this scholarship and how determined the propellers are in making sure the best are chosen, Knight Hennessy scholars are seasoned and courageous leaders who are ethical, decisive, resilient, driven to achieve meaningful results, and motivated to inspire others to effect positive change anywhere in the world. The scholars are collaborative community members who are humble, empathetic, trustworthy, oriented to act in service of others, and deeply passionate about contributing to the greater good of larger society.

Every full-time prost graduate program in any subject offered at Stanford University is available. The programs include among others, DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD.
Knight Hennessy scholarship is awarded for a period of 3 years. Through out the period, beneficiaries are provided with the following:
- full tuition and associated fees
- stipends for living and academic expenses
- travel grant intended to cover an economy-class ticket for one annual trip to and from Stanford
- other additional fees as may be approved by the scheme.
For you to be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Admitted to Stanford University. That is to say that in addition to applying to Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS), you must apply to, be accepted by, and enroll in a full-time Stanford graduate degree program including, but not limited to, DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD programs.
- Have earned, in January 2016 or later, a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a college or university of recognized standing.
The eligibility window for applicants who served in the military after their undergraduate studies is extended by two years in acknowledgement of longer service commitments. They must have earned their degree in January 2014 or later to enroll in 2023. Current college students are eligible if they will earn their first degree by September 2023.
Application for the Knight Hennessy Scholarship is made online via the official website (provided below). Applicants are to apply separately and concurrently to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program and to their Stanford graduate degree program.
